Homemade Chocolate Ice Cream Cups
Cookware and Ingredients Required:
Instructions:
- Milk chocolate (as much as needed)
- Caramel (to taste if desired, as much as needed)
- Simmering pot
- Mixing bowl
- Balloons
- Cookie sheet
Instructions:
- Pre-inflate the balloons, as many as you need to match the amount of cups desired.
- Melt down your milk chocolate (and caramel, if you elected to use it in this recipe) in your simmering pot, and once it is a nice, melty consistency, pour it into your mixing bowl.
- Dunk the top portion of the balloons into the melted concoction, and place them onto the cookie sheet to dry. (You can also apply sprinkles at this point.)
- Once the chocolate is dried, use a safety pin to puncture the balloons for easy removal.

Apparently these little fried delights are quite the hit among students attending the University of Washington, and frequently appear in local holes-in-the-wall and dive bars. While the true inventor remains unknown, it's pretty undisputed that this is a UofW treat.
